Drilling & Workover Services

Drilling, workover and intervention coordination for mature oilfields.

Karamay Energy supports operators with the technical scoping and coordination of drilling, workover and well-intervention programmes for mature fields.

Field execution is undertaken by operators and appropriately qualified local service partners. Karamay Energy provides project coordination, technical input and access to an established regional service network.

Drilling & Workover Support

Drilling, workover and intervention scopes begin with the practical well and production problem. We support operators in defining technically appropriate programmes, using available well history, production data and field constraints to guide planning and coordination.

Drilling

Technical scoping and coordination of appraisal, redevelopment and drilling programmes with the operator and appropriately qualified local service partners.

    • Appraisal and development drilling
    • Redevelopment of mature fields
    • Deviated and directional wellbores
    • Integrated drilling coordination
    • Synergy with field-development planning
    • Reservoir-led well placement

Workover & Intervention

Technical support for underperforming or shut-in wells, based on well history, production constraints, reservoir potential and agreed operational objectives.

    • Tubing and completion repairs
    • Production-restoration cycles
    • Zonal isolation and water shut-off
    • Well clean-outs
    • Recompletion sequences
    • Mechanical-integrity fixes
    • Well-kill operations
    • Complex troubleshooting

Mature-Well Rehabilitation

Mature wells often have interconnected mechanical, fluid, production and reservoir constraints. We review available well history, production behaviour and operating conditions to help define a practical rehabilitation pathway. Where appropriate, this may combine workover planning with production chemistry, stimulation or water-control screening.

Strategic Redevelopment

For mature and underperforming assets, technical screening can help operators prioritise intervention opportunities and align workover planning with the wider field-development strategy.

    • Candidate screening for rehabilitation
    • Production-recovery planning
    • Workover sequencing
    • Intervention economics
    • Prioritisation of idle wells
    • Infill-drilling technical review
    • Alignment with production-enhancement and EOR screening
    • Post-job performance review

Local Service Network & Equipment Coordination

Karamay Energy supports operators in coordinating drilling, workover and well-intervention requirements through appropriately qualified local service partners. Equipment selection and mobilisation depend on the well scope, site conditions, local regulatory requirements and current availability.

Indicative support may include:
Drilling and workover unit coordination; wellhead services; pressure-control equipment; and remote-field support equipment, subject to project requirements and partner availability.

Deployment requirements:
Final mobilisation is subject to technical verification, operator approval, current availability, valid certifications and site-specific requirements. Field execution is undertaken by the operator or appropriately qualified local service partners.

A Practical Well-Intervention Process

01

Well Assessment

Review available production history, well logs, mechanical records and previous intervention outcomes.

02

Constraint Analysis

Identify whether the principal production constraint is mechanical, reservoir-related, fluid-related or associated with water handling.

03

Solution Design

Define the appropriate worker, drilling, production-chemistry or water-control pathway for the operator's field objective.

04

Delivery Coordination

Coordinate scope and technical support with operators and qualified local partners

05

Validation

Review performance against the agreed baseline and success criteria.

Integrated Chemistry & EOR Support

Where appropriate, workover plans can be supported by field-specific production

chemistry, water management and EOR screening. The pathway is selected based on the field constraints, available data and pilot economics.

    • Scale and corrosion inhibition
    • Water shut-off treatments
    • Formation stimulation chemistry
    • Conformance-control systems
    • Polymer-flooding support
    • Viscosity-reduction methods
    • Demulsification
    • Produced-water management

Request a Confidential Technical Review

Share the well history, production data and field objective. We will assess whether a technical review, chemistry evaluation or coordinated intervention scope is appropriate.
